Short version: your answers are yours, the coach is the only reader, and you can see, export or delete everything.
What the coach can see
Everything you enter: your assessment answers, boundaries, private notes, check-ins, journal entries, repair sessions and coach messages. The coach reads across every member of a circle to write shared content, but shared content is checked so it never reveals who said what.
What other members can see
Your name, your avatar, your relationship label, whether you’ve finished the assessment, the shared plan, shared week reviews, appreciations you send, and repair summaries you choose to share. Nothing else. Not your answers, not your scores, not your notes, not whether you completed the wellbeing check.
The wellbeing check
We store a computed level (none, caution, high) or, if you ask us to, nothing at all. Raw answers to that section are discarded before saving. Nobody in your circle is told a level exists.
Who we share data with
Our AI provider (Anthropic) processes assessment text to write the plan; it is not used to train their models. Our email provider (Resend) sends transactional email. Our payment provider (Stripe) handles cards; we never see card numbers. Our database is hosted by Neon. No advertising, no data brokers, no selling.
Special category data
Relationship, health and wellbeing answers can be special category data under UK GDPR. We process them on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give at the end of the assessment and can withdraw by deleting your account from Settings.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account removes your answers, notes, messages and membership immediately. Shared plans already generated are kept for the remaining members but contain no attributable content from you.

Analytics
With your permission we use Google Analytics to understand how people find Sameside and where the public site could be clearer. It is off until you accept it, and you can change your mind here at any time. When it is on: Google signals and ad personalisation are disabled; we send our own page views with a sanitised path, so the private parts of the app are reported as a single generic section and never reveal which tool you opened; and the events we send carry no personal data — no names, email addresses, answers, scores or check-ins, only coarse facts such as whether a circle is a couple or a family. Google’s own policy applies to what it does with the data it receives; see policies.google.com/privacy.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of everything we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how it is used, and withdraw consent. Download and deletion are one click inside the app and need nobody’s permission; anything else goes through the form on Your data and is answered within one month.
Lawful bases, plainly
We process your account and coaching data to provide the service you asked for. We treat relationship and wellbeing information as special-category data and process it only with your explicit consent, given before the assessment and withdrawable at any time. Analytics on the public site runs only if you agree. We rely on legitimate interests for delivery logs and in-app product statistics, and we have written down why that balance is fair.
No automated decisions about you
The coach suggests; it never decides anything with a legal or similarly significant effect. It does not score you for anyone else, build a profile for a third party, or affect your access to any service.
How long we keep things
Your account and its contents last as long as your account does. Everything else has a published limit — analytics events 13 months, email logs 12 months, tokens 30 days, accounts never verified 30 days — applied automatically every day rather than by hand.
Where your data is
Our database is in the EU. Some providers process data in the United States under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Everyone who touches your data is listed at who processes your data, with what they do and the safeguards.
